I have been practicing psychotherapy in Santa Monica/WLA for 25+ years.
Much of my work involves working with couples, adolescents, individuals, and families.
Before entering Graduate school, I taught elementary school in both the public and private sectors. I have spoken at various elementary, middle, and high schools throughout the years regarding parenting, bereavement, and sexuality issues.
I have first-hand knowledge and expertise in working with people who have experienced a loved one suffering from cognitive loss such as dementia or Alzheimer’s.
When you hear the phrase "sex education,” what do you think of? Not getting pregnant? STI's? Abstinence? What not to do? Let's change our thinking and instead discuss and learn about pleasure, consent, sexual enjoyment, communication, exploration, and fantasy play. gender roles?, BDSM.
I'm here to help change how we think and play around sex and sexuality.
I am a solution-focused therapist- meaning I want to know what’s not working in your life, but I’m more curious about what is working and how you do more of that. I’m an out-of-the-box thinker, doer, and educator, always curious, questioning, reading, attending workshops, and enjoying my life. It's how I bring my experience – both formal education and life experience to you.
I want to broaden how we think and behave towards ourselves and others.
So come as you are. Love and appreciate your imperfections.
Who I am-
I am warm, sensitive, curious, and a bit irreverent. I listen well and pay close attention to subtle indications such as eye movement, breathing, facial expressions, and what’s not being said. With grace and skill, I will guide you to deeper places within yourself in a process toward greater self-awareness and fulfillment.
I am easygoing, spontaneous, insightful, intuitive, and perceptive. Much of the time, I will be aware of a word said that has a much bigger story behind it. I will gently probe but be assertive and strong and dig deep if necessary.
Dark places don't scare me. There are ways to step in and plenty of ways to climb out.
I am very comfortable with who I am- and when I'm not, I do my work.
I have two grown children (and one delicious grandchild) who are independent and wonderful. I have been married for over 35 years.
I enjoy spending time with loved ones, exploring nature, rescuing animals, trying new things, and finding comfort in familiarity.
All this and more help inform my life and my work.
How will you know if therapy is effective?
This part is hard to describe, but you'll just know-
Not only from how we communicate but how you communicate, interact, and relate with others.
